Every home is different, and that’s why we have a number of options for you to protect your home from termites.

Bait Systems

Baiting systems are an excellent way to protect your house from termite ingress. Here is how they work:

  • Baits are placed around the perimeter of your home Exterra recommend you do this at least every 4m.
  • Focus granules are placed below the stations, these granules emit Co2 which attracts termites to the stations where they begin feeding on the timber interceptors in the stations.

  • Regular inspection of the bait stations pick up termite activity and the baiting process begins with the application of requiem
  • Termites consume the requiem and pass it along to the other termites in the colony
  • After a period of time the worker termites can no longer moult which causes them to die and subsequently the colony is eliminated.

At Australian Standard Pest Control we recommend the Exterra bait system.

Chemically Treated Zone

Chemically treated zones are the option most frequently used by our customers the security of having treated soil around the external perimeter of your building helps you sleep at night knowing your protected.

First we dig down to 50mm below the edge of the footing in areas not covered by concrete in most occasions we will then remove the existing soil in a skip then we will back fill the trench at a rate of 100ltr/m3.

We then drill through the concrete every 200mm and inject the soil below 2ltrs in ever hole which can work out to be 150-200ltrs/m3, then fill the hole with no more gaps and concrete or colored tile grout depending on the surface.

Recommend Concrete Cut

In all houses we recommend the owners have the concrete cut and removed in areas where concrete paths & Patios abut the external wall. This is a more expensive option however there are less limitation to this treatment.

At Australian Standard Pest Control our preferred chemical is Termidor. It is a little more expensive than the others but it has proven very effective.

Reticulation

Reticulation is a series of pipes which pump chemical around the house for treatment. The benefits to reticulated system are this;

  • Save money on future treatments
  • Clients are more likely to get more frequent retreatments due to cost
  • No invasive treatments (no mess in the yard from digging & drilling)
  • Long lasting

Reticulation can be done to houses that have had the concrete cut and houses that haven’t. At Australian Standard Pest Control we recommend ALTIS reticulation as preferred reticulation system.
