Inspections
Here’s how we go about your termite inspection for best results.
Step 1: OUTSIDE
Our fully licenced and certified (to the highest Australian standards) termite inspector will commence your inspection by thoroughly going over the external perimeter of your building paying specific attention to any points where termites may gain undetected entry to your premises.
We will then thoroughly inspect your yard including:
- any fences,
- landscaping timbers,
- retaining timbers,
- timber decks,
- out buildings (such as garden sheds/carports/pool filter sheds/cubby houses/etc),
- loose timbers,
- stored timbers,
- trees,
- tree stumps and
- gardens for any evidence of termite activity/damage or timber decay.
We will also assess your plumbing and drainage to determine if there are any problem areas that may provide termite with a constant source of moisture or areas that may attract termites to your house.
Step 2: INSIDE
We will then proceed into the house and inspect all the walls, floors & ceilings using a moisture meter and a inspection tool to tap and probe any decorative timbers including:
- all skirting boards,
- window jambs and
- door jambs as well as sounding all available walls.
Step 3: ROOFVOID
We will then go into your roof voids and inspect your roofing timbers as these are the areas where termites are most likely to expose themselves as the hot and dark conditions provide termites with a more friendly predator free environment with which to work.
Step 4: THE CUSTOMER
We will then walk you around the outside and inside of your building (where necessary) and show you what we have found. Whether it be termite damage/ activity, borer damage, timber decay, high moisture or anything which may cause the owner a problem in the near or distant future.
This is done in conjunction with a report to physically show you all areas in which we detail on the report and to give you a opportunity to ask any questions you may have with regards to these areas.
We will also then recommend a method of termite management program to protect your house in the future.
Pre Purchase Inspections:
At Australian Standard Pest Control we strongly recommend when purchasing a house that you invest in a pest and building inspection.
The benefits of this is that you can go into your new house without any nasty surprises. It is important to know exactly what you are buying, as sometimes a house that looks good to the purchasers may end up being a lot more hard work than they were expecting.
As pest inspectors we can inform you of any visible termite damage/activity, borers or timber decay. We also inform you of any areas with high moisture levels which may cause a problem in the future.
The building inspection is equally important.
Australian Standard Pest Control is happy to recommend Paul Roberts Building Inspections as our preferred building inspector.
We have a long standing business relationship with Paul and have found him to be an excellent tradesman and, most importantly, a good communicator with our clients (one of the most important things for building inspectors).
Paul gets ready to inspect!
